A Totally Different Way to Look at Setting Goals

I've completely changed how I set goals, and it's made a huge difference.

Fast Value: Your job as the CEO of your team is to allocate your resources to get the best return. Spreading those resources across multiple goals is hurting your growth. Focus on the #1 thing.

For the last 3 years, we've been following EOS, which has brought a ton of clarity to how we run our business. But we still found that we constantly bit off more than we could chew.

The big change we made completely fixed that.

And the best part... it was a super simple fix.

Most of the time, we would set a bunch of goals for the year. Every quarter, we would have 3-5 major projects to keep us on pace to hit our annual goals.

The problem: We wouldn't put our goals in order of priority.

We acted as if all goals were created equal. They were not.

The reality: Of the goals you set, there is likely ONE that would by far have the biggest impact on your business. That goal is probably the hardest one to accomplish, too.

Human nature is to handle issues that you know how to solve (aka - the easy ones).

We did this for the last few years. Checking off 80% of our goals, but missing the most important one.

The change: Put goals in order of priority. The most important goal is #1. You don't work on #2 until you complete #1.

Again, simple. And it works.

We've made so much progress toward the #1 goal for our company.

The lesson: There is something you can do that will completely change everything about your business. That should be the only thing you focus on accomplishing.

Obviously, you still have to run your business. The day-to-day still has to happen, but all the extra focus goes toward the #1 goal.

For us, it's to create consistent lead generation through organic content.

If we do this, we will completely change the financials of our business. It will allow us to reinvest tons of money and outpace our competition (more than we already are).

The question: What is the #1 goal you could accomplish that would make all the other goals irrelevant?
