Laguna Niguel

Laguna Niguel is a medium-sized city in Orange County, California. It has fourteen unique neighborhoods and is the 132nd largest community in the state. It is home to upscale neighborhoods and luxurious homes. Among these neighborhoods is Laguna Crest, Coronado Point, Crest de Ville, Kite Hill, San Juaquin Hills, and more. It is a family-friendly community with a large population of college-educated adults, low crime rates, and great schools. The top five employers, as of the city’s 2017 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report are the United States Government, Costco Capistrano Unified School District, Lifetime Fitness, and the YMCA.

The first recorded inhabitants of the area were the native Acjachemen tribe. During the Spanish colonization of the area, the Spanish established the Mission San Juan Capistrano and sought to convert the natives to Christianity. For many decades, the area was primarily agricultural, housing orchards and sheep farms. In 1959, Interstate 5 was completed opening the area and making an easy commute from there to big-city employment opportunities in Los Angeles County and Orange County. This caused housing to boom, and the area soon became home to one of the first master-planned communities in the state.  Laguna Niguel quickly grew into the city we know today. However, it is not a traditional bedroom community. In Laguna Niguel, residents have most of their needs met within the community.
