Stop adding new stuff

You don’t need to add anything new to your business.

You don’t need to recreate the wheel.

Two sentences that I wish I had listened to earlier in my career.

During my first 3 years in the real estate business, I learned about one new thing after the next. From tech platforms to mailer campaigns and new scripts, the list goes on and on. I get it; real estate agents are easy to sell to.

How many times have you heard, “If you just add one deal it pays for itself for the next 5 years”… blah blah blah

About 18 months ago, I decided I didn’t need to add anything new to my business, and I didn’t need to recreate the wheel.

Here is the reality. Almost everything works. You just have to make it work.

Trying to do 10 different things will lead to doing 10 things poorly. Or for those that like numbers… You’ll be doing 10 different things at 10%.

The real kicker here is you’re competing with someone doing 1 thing at 100% in ALL 10 of the things you’re trying to do.

When I stopped adding things to my business, I also removed a bunch of crap that we didn’t do well. Or at least not as well as the thing we did best. We narrowed our focus to do more of what was already working. The outcome? Doubled the business in 18 months.

From $2m in revenue to $4m+ YTD (the year isn’t even over yet)

Here is a worksheet to help to double your business next year:

Question for you to answer:
What is the ONE thing that you do best?

Fill in your answer:
______________________________________

Next Steps:
– Get rid of anything you’re doing that’s not working.
– Do more of what is already working. (your answer above)
– Wait.

If that sounds simple, it’s because it is. Easy… not so much.

Stay focused. Do the work.
